5th Annual UGA Aviation Club Scholarship Fly-In – Event Recap
On Saturday, April 5th, 2025, the UGA Aviation Club hosted its 5th Annual Scholarship Fly-In, and it was a huge success!
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our community, we surpassed our fundraising goal of $5,000, bringing in over $7,500 through donations and silent auction items. These funds allowed us to award two aviation scholarships:
✈️ $5,000 to Nick Hacker
✈️ $2,500 to Campbell Griffin
The day brought together students, alumni, aviation enthusiasts, and members of the Athens flying community to celebrate flight, fellowship, and future aviators. The fly-in featured:
- A showcase of unique aircraft flown in by local pilots, giving attendees the chance to explore everything from vintage planes to experimental builds.
- Some friendly cornhole games that added to the relaxed and fun atmosphere.
- Classic cookout fare (yes, plenty of hot dogs!) that kept everyone fueled throughout the afternoon.
- An incredible aerobatic performance by Dragonfly Aviation, thrilling the crowd with flips, rolls, and low passes.
- Live music by local band Raleigh’s Garden, setting the perfect tone for an afternoon of community and celebration.
We are especially grateful to Airstar Charter for generously allowing us to use their hangar as the venue — a perfect backdrop for aircraft, entertainment, and connection.
This event was not only a fundraiser but a celebration of aviation and the tight-knit community that surrounds it. We’re incredibly proud of how far the club has come, and we can’t wait to keep building this tradition in the years to come.
Thank you to everyone who supported the event — your involvement makes a real impact on the lives of our student aviators. We hope to see everyone at next year’s fly-in!
