The UGA Aviation Club’s main mission is to get as many students in the air as possible. At our annual Spring Fly-Ins, we have the honor of awarding one of our club members a Student Pilot Scholarship to get their wings!
On Saturday, April 22, the UGA Aviation Club held its Third-Annual Spring Fly-In and Student Pilot Scholarship! Despite the windy weather early in the day, the Fly-In was a huge success complete with pilots from across the southeast, lots of food, live music, and fun for all!
Each year, the Student Pilot Scholarship applications are available to any active, dues-paying club member. We had a wonderful panel of UGA Aviation Club alumni who are all past presidents reviewing applications. We had a record number of amazing applications come in this year. Every student who applied was highly qualified and a hard-working member of the UGA Aviation Club Community.
Our 2023 Scholarship winner is Brooklyn Schnupp! Thanks to the UGA Parents Leadership Council (PLC), our alumni, faculty advisor (Dr. John Knox), parents, and aviation enthusiasts alike, we were able to reach and go beyond our $5,000 goal to raise $6,100! Brooklyn is going to begin flying this summer with her $5,000 scholarship.
We can’t wait to see how far flying takes her! Go Dawgs and see you next year!
